Control room operators often work long shifts monitoring and actioning mission-critical information; it becomes essential that their workstations are comfortable and easy to use. A component of optimizing operator effectiveness is ensuring proper display positions to avoid eye strain, muscle fatigue, and headaches. There are best practices to address control room monitor positions and ways to optimize them for ergonomics and ease of use. Sit-stand consoles have been around for quite a few years now. As we see the popularity increase we can obviously see that this is a growing trend and not just a fad. A trend is something that solves a problem and gets stronger over time. A fad however is something that is popular for a short period of time and then fades out quickly. Case in point, this blog post. We are updating this post on Sit-Stand Consoles from 2019 as the trend is seemingly getting even stronger since then.

To summarize: sit-stand workstations allow operators to adjust the height to their preference for sitting or standing positions while they work.
