Evans was asked to undertake an upgrade of two control rooms - that are geographically 520km apart! The control rooms needed to employ same design so that operations can easily switch between them. To make things more challenging, space limitations, room access and seismic conditions also needed to be factored and for which we need to account.
Together with their Australia/New Zealand (ANZ) partner, Jumbo Vision International and Evans delivered a total of six identical 5m wide Response™ consoles - three for each site.
The consoles each house sixteen 24" screens, as well as two 30" overview screens. This means that monitor mounts and peripheral management were key to the design.
The PC units were located in a rack elsewhere in the room - therefore the consoles needed to include integration for Matrox KVM units for display switching. Slat walls were used to place power distribution and also to provide power and data access points for the variety of communication devices required by the operators - with sit/stand capability for comfort.
Transpower New Zealand Limited have also utilized Evans Millwork for storage of files and personal effects.
