The Challenge

The client, Los Angeles County, which includes 88 cities and boasts the largest population of any county in the US, was looking for a control room solution for its traffic management center. They were looking for a high tech look in a desktop design with enough room for personal storage and work surfaces.

The unique challenge: they were stuck with a large post in the front middle of the room and the consoles had to be designed to work around that post.

The Evans Solution

Evans designers are used to working around unique room obstructions so the post posed little problem. Part of the Strategy Desk configuration included a curved layout to maximize sightlines around the post itself while maintaining the flow of the other desk configurations.

To maximize workspace and personal storage, peninsula work surfaces were included in the design along with door mounted CPU shelves. Also, by choosing the Strategy console, it allowed for the option of slat wall mounted monitor arms. This in turn created a much cleaner and unobstructed work area and more work surface space for the operators.
