Position Overview: 

Operate the powder coat equipment and other related machine/equipment to coat and finish metal components within the metal shop. FIVE POSITIONS NIGHT SHIFT ONLY 10:00 P.M. THROUGH TO 6:00 A.M.

Key Responsibilities: 

Entry Level Minimum:
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained on all components through processing of parts according to drawing finish information and physical check on finish
  • Ensure production expectations are met by following schedule information from the Metal Shop Database or kitting date
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained at all times
  • Escalate any delay or stop that jeopardizes the schedule or safety
Intermediate to Senior Level Minimum: 
  • Able to problem solve, where needed, issues that pertain to drawings, material shortage or missing parts.
  • Keep track and supply info on daily productivity board.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of metal powder coating equipment and supply (Chemical tanks / spray booth / spray run and the oven), notify Manager where equipment repairs may be required
  • Maintain chemical pH or neutralize chemical if required.
  • Apply basic to custom powder coat finishes (i.e. metallic)
  • Maintain material inventories and where applicable inform Manager when supplies need replenishing before they are needed
  • Inform Manager on conflicting / incorrect information on drawings or finish.
  • Verify parts are safe and compliant with all regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiative
  • Investigate issues whether quality or safety related and initiate corrective action

Required Qualifications: 

  • Good communication skills (English)
  • Good physical condition; Able to stand for extended periods of time in a noisy, hot work environment, may wear a mask. Load/push carts containing metal components
  • Respects and is aware of safe work practices
  • Eye for fit and finish, emphasis on ‘QUALITY
  • Proficient at interpreting drawings and finish schedule to verify proper finishes
  • Able to communicate clearly and succinctly verbally and where it may be required written (English
  • Able to recommend/resolve problems as related to the position
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Metal fabrication processes
  • Proficient at operating powder coat related equipment : Chemical tanks, Spray booth, Spray Gun, and Oven
  • Efficient on spraying standard colors.
  • Efficient on spraying custom colors
  • Proficient at operating the chemical dip tanks and control pH.
  • Able to train and mentor new  workers within the same process/cell
  • Proficient at the operation and maintenance of all tooling in applicable area

Education/ Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiar with Metal Fabrication environment, ideally 3+ years of direct applicable experience in precision sheet metal powder coat
